“Momma, where is Nala” asked my wonderful daughter, Kayla

“I don’t know,” I replied looking down at her “have you checked her house?” I smiled childishly at my daughter who was a bit naive.

“Oh, ok. I will,” she looked up at me with pleading eyes.

“Not tonight though darling, we have important things to do,” I shaked my head as she pleaded with her eyes. “Aunt Zerina is coming home from her job” I know Kayla loves when people come home from jobs, she hates when they leave. She also hates when she has to fight, but she’s really strong, she’s the ice dragon. She smiled widely as I got out Kayla’s “Favorite” dress. It’s called her favorite because she never wears it, she hates it.

“Momma no!” She exclaimed. I nodded and handed it to her. She ran into the bathroom and put it on, she came out and looked absolutely beautiful. I ran my fingers through her pretty pink hair, I pushed it back into a bun and tied it up with a red ribbon. The doorbell rang. We both went down stair to answer the door.

“Nala, is everything ok?” I asked, she was out of breath.

“I was at the, uh, main hall,” she took a deep breath “and I grabbed a job, it’s looking for all the dragons, that means, Samantha, Maxien, Roni, Me, Kayla, Cameron, and Zerina. But I want you and Susake to come with so that we ensured to get are reward, and survive”

“They’re asking for all seven dragons?” I asked and thought deeply. Asking for all dragons must mean that the job it extremely dangerous. “I’ll go,”

“Me too,” Kayla took a deep breath and stood up straight, something she does when she’s scared.

“Where’s Zerina?” Nala asked finally catching her breath.

“I’m right here,” she stood tall, hovering over us, my younger twin sister Zerina, is the shadow dragon, she also uses demon magic, she’s also kinda timid.

“Ok, the jobs, in a week so we should train a little.” Nala smiled. Kayla looked up at me, I shook my head. I knew what she was about to ask, “can I go tonight momma,” and my answer would be no. She crossed her arms and made a cute pouty face. I giggled.

After Nala left with the news Zerina came in with a smile

“Just getting off a job now I got to go on another one” she snickered. I smiled and giggled

“Just like old time, hah,” Kayla looked up at me like she’s done something wrong, so I look away, Kayla seems to think her being born was the reason I stopped going on major missions but that’s not it. I just needed a break, and some time to think. I yawned.

“Ice make heart,” I whispered under my breath and made a heart in my hand and put it in Kayla’s hair.

“Momma!” Kayla exclaimed embarrassingly. I kissed her forehead, pulled her closer to me, and cuddled her like I used to when she was younger. I smiled softly, I could feel her cheeks lifting too. “So, Momma we’re doing a class project on our parents, and I only have a parent, I need to know who my dad is,” my eyes widened as she said dad,

“He’s a horn dog who can’t keep his pants on! He impregnates girls and leaves them to impregnate another girl!” Zerina snapped in. “I’m sorry Kayla, but you may NEVER meet your father! Never!” Kayla’s eyes filled with tears, mine were filled with shock.

“You want me to fail then, FINE I WILL!” Kayla stomped out of the room with tears running down her face, I gasped and covered my mouth, I was about to cry too. Zerina’s breath was heavy, really heavy.

“I’m sorry Kayla, I’m just trying to protect you,” she whispered softly. “Just protecting you from what he might do, he might do it to you, and Nala, and everyone else, I just don’t want that to happen agian .” I grabbed Zerina’s hand and gave it a soft squeeze. She layed her head on my shoulder, so I rubbed her hair. “I’m sorry for yelling at her,”

“It’s not your fault, you didn’t know what to do,” I pulled her closer to me “you’re not the only one, I’m making this up as I go, it would be nice to have mother to help us on this journey.” I looked up at the picture of my mother who left when I was four, she’s the goddess of all things light. The way she left wasn’t like what you think, she’s hibernating until she sees that Caire is in danger. My father is doing the same except he’s the god of all things dark and is waiting for chaos to come so he can strike. Her voice still echoes in my mind, her last words to me.

“CJ my darling, I love you so much, and I always will, never forget that,” a single tear ran down her literally glowing skin “tell everybody else I love them,”

“I don’t understand,” my oldest sister sunny, who was 11 at the time, was with us, crying, heavily. “Why are you leaving me, I need you! Don’t leave me,” she grabbed mother’s hand tightly. “Please!” She kissed both of our foreheads as she started to fade away.

“Just remember I love you all” she was gone, for good now.

“I wish I could’ve met her” Zerina and I were separated for most of our lives and so when mother left, Zerina didn’t ever know her. “But I know that she’s a good person, a wonderful person,” she looked up at me and a smiled warmly at her. She smiled back at me. I stood up and stretched.

“Where do you wanna go for your return dinner?” I asked

“Let’s go get some Roman” she smiled, I nodded,

“Kayla, we’re going out for Roman, wanna come?” I knew she couldn’t resist Roman!

“Of course, lemme get dressed!” She responded from Wyntr’s (my youngest sisters) room. She meets up at the bottom of the stairs in a red tank top and a gray skirt.

We all walked to the Masa Bistro restaurant. We usually don’t have the money for a restaurant like this, but I’ve been saving up by going on little jobs with Kayla and Samantha, waiting for Zerina’s return. Kayla gets so excited for these types of things, and this is like an early birthday party for Zerina and i. When we walked through the door you could smell the sushi and Ramen, it got me so hungry, I’m pretty sure Kayla was hungrier.

“Table for three, please,” I informed the waitress, she nodded and guided us to our table.

“Drinks?” She asked

“I’ll take a coffee” Zerina nodded politely,

“Pepsi, please,” Kayla smiled brightly,

“Water” i looked away, she nodded and walked away, I heard a voice, not from in the restaurant but from the outside, I stood up quickly, and at that exact moment 5 men burst through the windows, Zerina and Kayla stood up behind me, “Kayla, get everyone to safety” she nodded, I slammed my fist in my hand, “ice make sword!” A sword made of ice appeared in my hand, I charged for them

“Shadow dragon, ROAR!” Shadows blasted from her mouth and blasted two of the men back through the window, I attacked the third man and stuck blood, and from that I kicked the third man in the face.

“Everyone’s evacuated from the restaurant,” Kayla said as she turned around to the fourth man, “ice dragon, ROAR” ice blasted from her mouth and froze the fourth man in this tracks, the fifth and final man was tough, he had magic abilities, he used water magic, but that’s something I’ve seen before,

“Shadow dragon…”

“Ice dragon…”

“ROAR” they roared at the same time and combined magic, a unison raid! The man dodged and grabbed Kayla by the back of her shirt,

“KAYLA” I screamed, he took her and ran, I chased after her!

“Momma!” She yelled

“Water lock!” He reached out toward me and surrounded me by water, I couldn’t breath, but I froze the water and began my chase again. He soon became to fast for me and I collapsed in the street, with tears running down my face I looked up to the sky and screamed her name!

We returned and I was crying like baby.

“They’re from America,” Zerina pointed out, “the language from there suits clearly was English, they took Kayla to America!” All my siblings were in the dining room and looked at Zerina and I.

“They kidnapped Kayla!” They all gasped.

“That’s not ok!” Wendy, the sky god slayer, and my older sister demanded, “they’re gonna feel the raft of the SKY GOD SLAYER!” Samantha was there too.

“I heard about the mission, this is what they must’ve needed all 7 dragon slayers for. We’re going to America for this job tomorrow! Get your stuff packed! Now!” She looked down at me with a stern face, her thin pink eyes ensured me that she was going to get Kayla back, I nodded. Zerina and I went upstairs and packed our suitcase full of clothes. I folded up a picture of me and Kayla and put it in my pocket and cried some more, soon I’d fallen asleep.

When I had woken up my suitcase was already down stairs, I’d gotten dressed and went to the front door. Zerina was waiting for me, she looked at me and I looked down.

We walked to the private airport our family owned. I sighed deeply.

“Where’s Kayla.” Nala asked.

“She got kidnapped, she’s already in America,” Zerina said instead of having to put the pain and pressure on me. Everybody but Zerina, Samantha, and I gasped, Nala looks like someone just stabbed her in the stomach. We got on the plane. I stare out the window and held Zerina’s hand. This is it, the big mission, I don’t even want the money we’re going to be rewarded, I only want my daughter! For now all I can say is, goodbye Caire, hello America.
